Inspired by the double meaning of the notion guilt in German - both "guilt" and "debt," Coleman Collins launched the ultra-cybernetic Bitcoin-derived GuiltCoins. Currently the only monetary mechanism for rational emotion management and collective accounting for guilt.
Buying GuiltCoins effectively reduces guilt of an existential nature and creates a market for moral-ethical debt. An experimental field for building a collective belief in a crypto-token and the social construction of financial value.
As part of the exhibition “Cybernetics of the Poor”, the permanent installation of the GuiltCoin Info Point was on display, as well as its performative activation. As an interactive format, performers held consultations with museum visitors about the purchase of GuiltCoins.
